Privacy policy
Short version: we sell nothing, we have no user accounts, and we ask for no personal data to let you read a recipe. Here is what does happen.
Who we are
faracarne.com, a vegan recipe site. For anything about your data: contact@faracarne.com.
Anonymous statistics (no cookies)
To see how many people read the site and which recipes they look for, we look at the server's technical logs — the same records any web server produces when it serves a page. No cookie is set, no tracking code runs in your browser, and you are not followed across sites.
From them we take only aggregate figures: how many views each page had, which site you arrived from, country and device type. IP addresses are irreversibly hashed at the point of aggregation and are not kept in the long-term statistics. We cannot identify anyone from this data, and it works regardless of your cookie choice.
Google Analytics (only with your consent)
If you press "Accept" in the cookie banner we load Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies to tell new visitors from returning ones. If you press "Decline" — or press nothing — Google Analytics is never loaded and no cookie is set. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
When active, data is processed by Google Ireland Limited as our processor. We do not enable advertising, remarketing or ad personalisation features.
What we keep in your browser
Two things, both strictly necessary — they exist only so the site behaves the way you left it — and so neither needs consent:
- Your theme preference (light/dark): a cookie named theme, valid for a year. Being a cookie it is sent along with requests to the site, but it holds no identifier and is not read for anything else.
- Your cookie choice: kept in localStorage under the key fc_consent_v1. Unlike a cookie, it never leaves your device.
You can clear both at any time from your browser's site-data settings.
Contact form
If you write to us through the contact page, your name, email address and message are sent to us so we can reply. We use them for nothing else and add them to no mailing list.
External services
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the European Union. The technical logs described above are kept there in raw form for at most 90 days, for security and diagnostics, then deleted automatically.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your data, and the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. Write to the address above and we will sort it out.
